Phoenix, AZ (February 10, 2007) - Star Jones Reynolds, noted television personality, attorney and best selling author, took the stage as emcee of Fresh Start’s 2007 Fashion Gala to help the organization realize net revenues of $1,100,000. The event was held at the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa on Saturday, February 10 th with proceeds benefiting the Jewell McFarland Lewis-Fresh Start Women’s Resource Center. “The event was incredible,” stated Beverly Stewart, co-founder of Fresh Start Women’s Foundation. “The Chairs had a goal and they surpassed it. We’re thrilled.”
Co-Chairs Cathy Kleeman and Debbie Simons, along with event sponsors AZ Society, Greenburg Traurig and Westcor made the 11 th annual Gala possible. Westcor’s Luxury Collection Stores – ESCADA, ST. JOHN, JENNIFER CROLL, MAHSA, and SAKS FIFTH AVENUE showcasing Alexander McQueen, were featured at the evening’s fashion show.
A highlight was the inaugural presentation of Fresh Start’s first Founders’ Award, which was presented to Barbara Anderson Stoiber by co-founders Pat Petznick and Beverly Stewart. This award is designed to recognize a remarkable person, couple, corporation or foundation for their exceptional contribution to the empowerment of women. Mrs. Stoiber, that evening, announced that she would gift the foundation an annual scholarship of $50,000 a year for qualifying mentees of Fresh Start’s mentoring programs.
Star Jones Reynolds appearance followed a workshop session she presented the day before at the Fresh Start’s Women’s Resource Center where more than 200 women attended to hear her speak on communicating more confidently and making a memorable first impression. “From the time Star toured Fresh Start last spring, she has embraced our mission.” said Pat Petznick, Fresh Start’s CEO. “She is a fantastic addition to the Fresh Start family.”
The Gala concluded with Mark Vost as the winner of the raffle drawing for a 2007 Lexus Hybrid SUV donated by the Valley Lexus Dealers.
